CesiumAstro maps out $500M Bee Cave headquarters campus

CesiumAstro is converting the former West Austin Business Park site near Highway 71 and Sweetwater Village Drive into a 270,000-square-foot, three-building headquarters and advanced manufacturing campus. The deal settled roughly 18 months of litigation between the city and developers Velocis and KBC, who agreed to pay Bee Cave $500,000. Planned 18-wheeler traffic dropped from hundreds of daily trips to eight trips monthly, and 76 loading bays are being converted to windows. The company projects more than 500 jobs over five years, with production beginning in 2027.

Council approves Southwest Collector alignment to relieve Highway 71

Bee Cave City Council approved revisions to the city's Thoroughfare Plan on March 24, 2026, settling on Option 3 for a Southwest Collector connecting Hamilton Pool Road to local streets with one signalized intersection at the Bee Cave Elementary driveway. Council also removed Shops Parkway as a primary collector because it is privately owned, and added two neighborhood collectors between Bee Cave Parkway and the Skaggs Drive extension. Traffic engineer Mallory Scates cited the Vail Divide extension, which cut Hamilton Pool Road volume from 17,821 to 15,474 daily trips between 2022 and 2023. More updates are expected through the Our Bee Cave 2037 comprehensive plan process.

Lake Travis ISD adopts selective enrollment for seven campuses

The Lake Travis ISD board approved a selective enrollment plan for out-of-district transfer students on January 22, 2026, covering Lake Pointe, Lake Travis, Lakeway and West Cypress Hills elementary schools, Bee Cave and Hudson Bend middle schools, and Lake Travis High School. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis against available space, grade level and program needs such as special education or bilingual classes. District staff said transfers at Bee Cave Middle School and Lake Travis High School will be extremely limited compared with the other five campuses. Separately, the district's planned eighth elementary campus on Hamilton Pool Road has been pushed past its original August 2026 opening.
