Lakeway adopts 2026 tax rate and FY 2027 budget

At its September 21 meeting, Lakeway City Council voted 5-2 to set a 2026 tax rate of .170076 per $100 valuation, below the .1760 maximum it had proposed in August and up from .1696 in 2025. The city estimates the average owner's bill rises about $29, with the average property value now $857,615, up from $842,697. Council approved the FY 2027 budget with a $581,665 deficit after nearly 140 cost-saving measures, including reduced parks, Activity Center and Swim Center maintenance spending and some city events.

Renovations to Lakeway City Park are in the engineering and design phase, and the city is collecting public feedback on a proposed skate park and bike skills park. City Park is one of five projects funded by the 2024 Parks Bond.

Council approves phased funding for Lakeway Marina boat ramp and parking

Following up on July's grants to Lakeway Resort and Spa owner Trestle Studio and Lakeway Marina, City Council voted 6-1 on August 17 to approve a phased hotel occupancy tax disbursement for the marina's remaining $704,400 request. The city had already approved $441,220 for building rehabilitation and signage. The first payment, $280,000, goes to boat ramp repair, followed by parking, building work and a marketing grant for the marina's rebrand.
